The Inpection

Came home yesterday to see Craig the Carpenter looking a little distressed.

Reason: the building inspector had just been there.

And it looks like we have a little problem. Apparently, the plans filed with City Hall show the boards running one way, but in reality, they run the other way. The inspector won't sign off on the framing until this is straightened out. Two options:
  1. Tear all the kitchen ceiling framing out and re-do it
  2. Re-draw the plans so they show the boards running the way they actually run

Obviously, we'll be going with (2), but that's going to mean a weeklong delay while the plans get tweaked, filed, and approved. So it goes.

Meantime, the electricians are wiring like mad, and Danny installed the tile floor in the laundry room. The floor looks nice, but we now have a roadblock between the house and the garage. Can't cross the new tile, so the only way to get to the fridge is to go through the zippered plastic wall in the hallway, across the construction zone, out the front door, and in through the roll-up garage door. A real pain when it comes time to make dinner. It's going to take a few more days for them to grout and seal that laundry room floor, and until then, we're dealing with the Dinner Detour.
